During the vigil at the Suruç-Kobanê border, activists renewed their call for peace against war.
The vigil started in the Suruç district of Urfa on the border of Kobanê in protest at the invasion attacks against North-East Syria continued on its 11th day.
The vigil promoted by the Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA), Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) was attended by members of the Peace Mothers’ Assemblies in Urfa and Amed (tr: Diyarbakır) today.
Urfa Peace Mothers Assembly Spokesperson Meyaser Korkmaz said, “We have always wanted peace and expressed our demand for peace, and we will continue to do so. We call on all mothers to build peace together.”
Nafiye Yiğit, a member of the Amed Peace Mothers' Assembly, said: “As Peace Mothers, we want peace. We do not want bloodshed. Everyone should undertake responsibility. Enough is enough.”
Adalet Çay, a member of the Urfa Peace Mothers Assembly, said, “We have been on vigil at the border for 11 days. 10 years ago, young people flocked to the border due to war. The same thing is happening again today. We say enough is enough. Let this bloodshed stop. All mothers living in Turkey need to take responsibility. Let peace be established. Do not let our young people die anymore.”
