The two-day curfew in over 31 cities in Turkey, which started with a fiasco, is over. In Amed, a group of volunteers distributed bread to destitute families.
A group of volunteers distributed free bread to destitute families in Sur, the historic old town of Amed (Diyarbakir). The group had breads donated by various bakeries and knocked on the doors of the alleys of Alipaşa and İskenderpaşa to pass them on to needy families. As the volunteers say, so far they have been able to help a hundred families.
The action is part of a solidarity network in Amed, in which political parties, organizations and institutions participate. The network, which was created at the beginning of the Corona crisis, supports people who are destitute or belong to the risk group and cannot leave the house.
At the weekend, there was a curfew in Amed and 30 other cities in Turkey. The measure, which was announced only two hours before the start, led to a fiasco because people flocked en masse to the shops to cover their basic needs.
