Water retention in Hasankeyf threatens villagers

The Ilisu Dam that will flood Hasankeyf has been retaining water, and the levels are starting to reach homes in the Kelekci village.

The 12 thousand year old ancient city of Hasankeyf will be flooded by the Ilisu Dam, as the water retention started on July 23. Some low-altitude areas in Hasankeyf and several village roads in neighboring Siirt have been flooded.

The water levels have reached homes in the Kelekci village and are threatening the villagers.
