The People’s Defense Central Headquarters Command stated that they will continue to respond to all attacks developed against the peoples of Kurdistan, wherever they may come from, in the 34th year of the August 15 Initiative as well.

The People’s Defense Central Headquarters Command celebrated the 33rd anniversary of the August 15 Initiative for all peoples of Kurdistan and issued a call to increase the struggle to turn the 34th year of August 15 into the time for “Free Leader - Free Kurdistan”.

In the written statement they issued, the People’s Defense Central Headquarters Command said: “We celebrate for Leader Apo and all our comrades, families of martyrs, our patriotic people and our allies the 33rd anniversary of the glorious August 15 maneuver that was carried out as an important intervention against tyranny, denial and genocide in our country Kurdistan, the most ancient lands of the Middle Eastern region which has cradled human development. In the person of our great commander comrade Egîd (Mahsum Korkmaz), we commemorate all our heroic martyrs who made history with their blood and are the true owners of this day and repeat our promise to our martyrs.”

“AUGUST 15 IS A REBELLION AGAINST THE THEFT OF IDENTITY AND DESTRUCTION”

The People’s Defense Central Headquarters Command stated that the August 15 Initiative is a rebellion against the theft of identity and the destruction imposed by the genocidal-colonialist forecs and said the following in their statement: “This rebellion is first and foremost an insurgency against the chains of slavery present in the mind of the Kurd. This contemporary insurgency of the Kurdish people started with great resolve, faith and spirit and created a revolution of resurrection in Kurdistan. This resurrection among the Kurdish society has brought our people back from the brink of death and has created them anew. It has created a people who defend themselves and their identity and brave all necessary sacrifices to that end. In this sense, the first bullet fired under the lead of esteemed commander comrade Egîd didn’t just mark the beginning of armed struggle, but also the first step of protecting one’s own identity and humanity, with ideological, social and cultural aspects.

The tough struggle against ruthless colonialism, internal regressive forces and the liquidationism of the Quadruple Gang has created a deep faith and resurgence in the masses and, with the serhildan movement of 1990, the Resurgence Revolution was carried to the top. Our people have veritably recreated themselves in this period and have developed the nation-building process. They have become a new society by experiencing the ideological, social, cultural and women’s revolution in the social level with Leader Apo’s contemporary thought.

“NATIONAL SPIRIT CREATED, BORDERS DRAWN BY COLONIALISM LOST MEANING”

In this way, the struggle for freedom that deepened on the basis of the August 15 spirit has shown its effect in all part of Kurdistan and the national unity spirit it created has rendered the borders drawn by colonialism meaningless. It has allowed our people to transcend all sectarian, dialectist, clanist and fragmentist understandings and has ensured the society of Kurdistan’s place among the contemporary-democratic peoples. The peoples of Kurdistan who have been enlightened on this foundation have struggled everywhere they live and have achieved gains and paid for them in full.”

“WE ARE EXPERIENCING A HISTORIC TIME WHEN WE ARE CLOSEST TO FREEDOM”

The People’s Defense Central Headquarters Command statement continued with: “Today the Kurdistan People’s Defense Forces have, like in the past, are striving to complete the duty that falls on their shoulders in full through the principles of living up to Leader Apo’s efforts and taking the lives of martyrs as examples.”

The statement stressed the following on the current outcomes of the August 15 Initiative:

“As a result of the rough struggle we have waged for some 40 years under the lead of Leader Apo, today as a people we are experiencing a historic time when we are closest to freedom. The Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla is entering the 34th year of the Feast of Resurgence with the rich experience and historic accumulation. The breakthrough spirit of great commander comrade Egîd will serve as a source again in the structuring of the Kurdistan guerrilla in the coming period, and the HPG forces will realize the defense of the peoples of Kurdistan with great success. In this coming historic period, the Kurdistan freedom guerrilla will display their undisputable resolve in line with the Leader Apo, will have the most active and effective position for the freedom of Leader Apo and the peoples of Kurdistan and will be the guarantee for building our people’s own system and the freedom of Leader Apo in the 34th year of August 15. They will certainly take advantage of the revolutionary conditions that have emerged through the epic resistance of our heroic martyrs and the efforts of our Leader and will know how to do what is necessary in this historic period. With this goal in mind, they will continue to respond to any and all attacks against the peoples of Kurdistan in the 34th year of the August 15 Initiative wherever they may come.

CALL TO INCREASE THE STRUGGLE

On this basis, we are calling on all our people to display their strength in social platforms of struggle to turn the 34th year of August 15 into the process of “Free Leader - Free Kurdistan” and the patriotic youth of Kurdistan to join the defense army of Egîd’s in this important time in history. We celebrate once more the Feast of Resurgence for all our people, and wish all our comrades great success in the 34th year of August 15.”
