Welat took Leader Apo's (Abdullah Öcalan’s) words ‘We started young, we will succeed young’ as a basis in his revolutionary life and walked on this path until his martyrdom. He became a symbol of the youth of the current period by manifesting a rebellious stance like Ali Çiçek.
Would Kurdistan, which was divided by the invaders on 24 July 1923 with the Treaty of Lausanne, consent to this fate? Or would an agreement on paper, with a few letters, divide Kurdistan into four parts? Although Kurdistan was forcibly divided into four states, they could not separate the land, they could not separate its people, they could not separate its culture. Because the Zagros Mountain range that connects Kurdistan is enough to tell the invaders that ‘you cannot divide me’. People who grow up in the same soil and culture will say that they will never lose their unity and solidarity and that they will struggle. For this reason, there have been unique struggles, resistances and wars all over Kurdistan until today. The people of Rojhilat (Eastern Kurdistan, Iran) also paid a heavy price in this struggle. The people, who never gave up their resistance, renewed their hopes with the emergence of the Leader and stood by their children in the struggle for freedom.
Poriya Îrfanî was born into a patriotic family in Kermanshah, the ancient city of Eastern Kurdistan. Since his family saw freedom in the PKK and was patriotic, he recognised the Kurdish Freedom Movement from an early age. Poriya Îrfanî, aware of the oppression of the Kurds by the Iranian state, listened to the story of Kawa the Ironsmith and Dehaq the Cruel from her mother during her childhood. Because of its oppression and persecution of the Kurdish people, he saw the Iranian regime as the Dehaq of the time. When Poriya Îrfanî went to a public school, he saw that the regime was recruiting young people as spies, and this further fuelled his anger towards the regime. Poriya Îrfanî, who was in search, was very impressed by her brother's participation in the guerrilla ranks and started to dream of joining the guerrilla ranks.
Poriya states the following about his brother's participation in the Kurdish Freedom Movement: “My brother never accepted the occupation of Kurdistan, that's why he chose this path. That's why I believe that the right and best way is the one he accepted, which means that the most honest and free life is in the PKK.”
Thus, shortly after her brother's participation, Poriya Îrfanî also joined the guerrilla ranks in 2016, heading towards the mountains of Kurdistan. He took the name Welat Dalaho because he has been in love with his country since childhood. Welat added his youthful energy to life, education and all his work in every field he was in. He fully involved himself in the struggle, endeavoured to increase his struggle at every moment. For this, he constantly trained and developed himself. As a young guerrilla, he also deepened his military skills and became an active sniper in order to have an active struggle against the enemy.
After his participation in the guerrilla ranks, Welat was impressed by the comradeship relations and treated all his comrades with respect and love. Life in the PKK is so communal that there is no difference between old and new friends, between young and old, between fighters and commanders. Everyone treats everyone with the same respect, shares the same life and has the same goals. This impressed Welat very much and made his participation even stronger. After working in many different areas, guerrilla Welat wanted to take part in the resistance against the occupation attacks launched by the colonialist Turkish army against the Medya Defence Zones. He then moved to the Medya Defence Zones with great enthusiasm and morale in 2022. He started a new process with the same youthful energy.
He taught his comrades day and night so that they too could become experts in tactics and weapons. He was attached to his weapon as if it were a part of his life. Of course, where there is love, success is inevitable. Welat followed in the footsteps of the martyr Simko Serhildan with this love and military stance. Insisting on joining the resistance with the expansion of the war in the region, Welat wanted to fulfil his promise for the freedom of Kurdistan. That's why he said, ‘I gave my word, and our party wants us to participate in this process in a sacrificial way. Therefore, I repeat my promise once again; I am ready to the end for a sacrificial participation’. On this basis, he joined the mobile teams and moved to Girê Amediyê Resistance Area, one of the areas where the war was most intense.
Welat, who sacrificially participated in the mobile teams, knew well how to position and protect himself against the attacks of the Turkish state. However, he not only protected himself, but also struck very heavy blows at the enemy with powerful actions. He organised assassinations where necessary, moved to the emplacements and took action where necessary. Despite the fire of revenge and excitement burning in his heart, he gave strength to his friends with his composure and courage.
In Girê Amediyê, where the Turkish state could not break the guerrilla resistance despite all the techniques and chemical weapons it used, Welat, together with his comrade Nîrvana, struck effective blows to the enemy with the actions he carried out. Welat Dalaho led many creative actions, from assassination to sabotage and infiltration tactics, and fulfilled his promises one by one. As a leading militant in the Girê Amediyê resistance, he engaged in a clash with enemy soldiers on 22 August 2022. In the fighting where dozens of enemy soldiers died, he fought along with his comrade Nîrwana until the last bullet and joined the caravan of martyrs. As long as there are heroes like comrade Welat in Kurdistan, the storms of revenge will not stop.
