Shengal Resistance Units (YBŞ) Command released a written statement refuting and condemning the KDP media’s fabricated news regarding the killing of civilian Faris Newaf Mihemed and injury of Xidir Eziz Hesen in Sinune town of Southern Kurdistan, denying any kind of involvement in the incident.

The written statement of the Shengal Resistance Units (YBŞ) Command is as follows:

"Some circles not at all pleased that the YBŞ brought forth a struggle and awakens the society, resort to spreading fabricated news to sully the name of the YBŞ, intending to hamper the progress of the YBŞ and to weaken its influence on the society.

Sunday morning, two local people were shot at in the buffer zone between Sinune and Khanasor near a checkpoint of the peshmerga. Here we have another example of dirty fabrication of news against the YBŞ whom they intended to blame for the incident by spreading anti-propaganda. Even though the perpetrators of Naze Naif's killing are known to the Peshmerga, these were not disclosed nor questioned. Everyone should know that the YBŞ and the process of awakening the society on the path of freedom, can never be stopped with such attacks. These immoral practices and immoral policies of special warfare must be given up.

“THE WOUNDED CITIZEN REACHED OUR POSITION”

Early Sunday morning two merchants from Zumar by the names of Faris Newaf Mihemed and Xidir Eziz Hesen were detained by unidentified persons, and targeted by an armed attack. After Xidir Eziz survived the attack with an injury and reached YBŞ locations, our forces intervened the incident. While Faris Newaf Mihemed lost his life despite all the medical efforts, Xidir Eziz Hesen was hospitalized and is being treated by expert doctors. The mentioned persons are from the Gergeri tribe, and the slain one was by our side in the ranks of Shengal Resistance Units as a PUK peshmerga, for whose death we express deep sorrow, and offer our condolences to his family.

“WE CONDEMN THE ATTACK”

We will never make concessions from our stance of exposing and bringing to account those responsible in the face of any attack on our people, which we have never been a part of up to date, nor will ever accept. We as YBŞ have nothing to do with this attack which we condemn in strongest terms.

The investigation conducted by our security forces has revealed through the initial account of Xidir Eziz, that the attack was perpetrated with intent to rob. The investigation continues meticulously and details will be shared with our people and public as they come out.

We call on all our people to be vigilant and careful of these dirty plans, and to contact the Ezidxan Asayish and our security forces in the event of any suspicious situation.”
