YBŞ announces first step for Mosul operation

The General Command of Shengal Resistance Units (YBŞ-Yekîneyên Berxedana Şengal) provided information regarding the operation to cleanse the surroundings of Mosul city which is ongoing in its 5th day.

The General Command of Shengal Resistance Units (YBŞ-Yekîneyên Berxedana Şengal) has released a statement providing information regarding the operation to cleanse the surroundings of Mosul city which is ongoing in its 5th day.

According to the YBŞ statement, the villages of Mediban and İmecris have been liberated from ISIS gangs within the scope of the ongoing operation, which serves as the first step of the military campaign on Mosul. YBŞ forces have also taken control of the 47th road line leading to Mosul, with which the road from Shengal to Telafer and Mosul have been opened.

The General Command commemorated YBŞ Military Council member Şengal Şengali who fell during the operation, and vowed loyalty to the memories of all martyrs. YBŞ underlined that they will not stop until the entire Kurdistan territory is liberated and all hostages held by ISIS are freed.

YBŞ General Command remarked that they are participating in the operation with a force of 1600 combatants who are also cooperating with some other forces in some areas.

Noting that HPG and YJA STAR guerrillas have been supporting the operation since the first day, YBŞ General Command added that they will provide detailed information on the operation later on.
