Shengal Resistance Units (YBŞ) Command released a statement on Kurdish journalist Nûjiyan Erhan who was murdered by KDP-AKP forces in Shengal.

YBŞ pointed out that Erhan worked with great sacrifice to relay the reality of Shengal and Êzidîs to the public opinion, saying: "With her life and struggle, martyr Nûjiyan left her colleagues and the Êzidî people a great legacy. She led a life with every second laden with a great meaning and revolutionary stance in order to expose and relay the truth that was intended to be hidden, darkened and covered up at a time when the reality of genocide and betrayal was tried to be covered up and Shengal and Êzidîs were tried to be submitted to great darkness.”

The statement by YBŞ Command continued as follows:

"Nûjiyan exposed and laid bare the reality of occupant and genocidal barbarism and betrayal, as she on the other hand played a very dignified role in the building of a new and free Shengal and social reality as a symbol of revolutionary journalism. She therefore became a target for fascist aggression amid countless obstacles she faced with since the very beginning. This aggression was at the same time a barest expression of the collaborative aggression's fear of free women's identity and the reality voiced in the person of Nûjiyan Erhan.

This collaborative stance and the organized masked betrayal net was afraid of the exposure of the truth and their roles of agency because this exposure would not let them accomplish their assigned role for the elimination of Kurdistan's revolutionary forces.

During yet another dirty betrayal and attempt of invasion, journalist Nûjiyan Erhan was deliberately murdered as the first step of a new aggression concept that aimed to annihilate and massacre Êzidîs and conclude the genocide of 2014. We have received with great sorrow the news of Nûjiyan Erhan's martyrdom after she got wounded as result of KDP forces' fire while covering 3 March's attacks that went down in history as an instance of great betrayal and dishonour.

We express our condolences to her valuable family and friends, and we promise to crown the truth she shouted until her last breath and her aspirations with victory.”
