Yenişehir Municipality works to eliminate the damage caused by the trustees

Yenişehir Municipality Co-Mayor Mehmet Ergün stated that they had taken over the wreckage from the trustee and said that they were working intensively to eliminate the damage left by the trustee administration.

Co-Mayor Mehmet Ergün of the DEM Party stated that the trustees who occupied the Yenişehir District Municipality of Amed (Diyarbakır) for 8 years did not produce any service despite 140,879,119 TL debt, donated institutions and sold properties. He said that all resources are now at the service of the public.

‘Those who usurped the will of the people ruled for years’

Speaking to ANF, Mehmet Ergün said that during the 8-year trustee period, immovables belonging to the municipality were sold and municipal institutions were donated or transferred to different institutions. Ergün stated that in addition to economic devastation, great damage was also done against the values of the people and multilingual municipalism was eliminated. “Centres providing education in mother tongue were closed, all institutions for young people were transferred to different institutions. In this way, those who usurped the will of the people ruled for years."

'This institution belongs to the people'

Ergün noted that no services were provided to the public and that the resources were looted for cronies. He continued, “653 million TL worth of land was sold between 2021 and 2024 alone. The current value of these lands is 3 billion TL. We had youth centres and houses for women and the disabled, and they transferred them all to other institutions. Most of them were donated. This institution belongs to the people and its resources are now used in line with the needs of the people."

'We are here as the will of the people'

Ergün said that they have been working hard to eliminate the damage caused by the trustees since they took office and added: "We started services the day we came. We will continue to serve despite all the destruction. Our people should have no doubt in terms of service. We are here as the will of the people and we act with this responsibility.”
