Eylem Mardin and Roza Serhed, guerrilla fighters in the ranks of YJA Star, evaluated the 21 March Newroz Day, which symbolizes resistance for the peoples of Kurdistan.

YJA Star guerrilla Eylem Mardin said that for the guerrilla Newroz means remembering the martyrs, "Newroz means the new day for all peoples, the arrival of spring. This is undoubtedly the same for our people. However, it is our martyrs who are the pioneers of our society and opened the way to the resistance of our people. We are the followers of Mazlum Doğan who said, 'resistance is life’.

The resistance manifested in the Garê resistance, in the person of our great commander, Şoreş Beytüşşebap, is the legacy of the resistance Mazlum Doğan adopted in the Amed prison. In order to protect human dignity against all kinds of torture, Mazlum Doğan set his body on fire on a Newroz day, and he taught us how to resist. Zekiye, Rahşan and Ronahi followed this resistance which still continues. As YJA Star guerrillas, we are the main force of this resistance. We reveal this with our actions, our resistance, our organized power, and we will bring it out. This can be achieved through liberating Leader Apo (Öcalan). We are reiterating our promise for freedom.

Roza Serhed, one of the YJA Star guerrillas, stressed that Newroz expresses novelty. "Newroz is a change, it is a renewal. Just as nature renews itself, we, as guerrillas, celebrate and renew today with great enthusiasm. We, as guerrilla, are the representative power of restructuring. Our movement emphasized the role of restructuring in resistance based on the resistance in Garê.

As YJA Star guerrillas, we are the representative and pioneer of this force. Leader Apo is the main source of our resistance, and we draw our strength and spirit of resistance from him. Just as he turned Imrali prison into a resistance stronghold and our friends in the prisons turned prisons into a field of resistance, we will stand up for this resistance with our actions against the enemy in the mountains and we will win."
