YPG General Command Member and Aleppo Forces Commander Brûsk Hesekê said Turkey was behind the attacks of gang groups in Sheik Maqsoud (Şêxmeqsûd) neighborhood of Aleppo.
Brûsk Hesekê spoke to ANHA's Berfin Roj about the intensified attacks launched by gangs affiliated to Al-Nusra, Ahrar Al-Sham and Nûreddîn Zenkî Brigade for the last one week.
YPG Commander stated that the main objective of the attacks by AKP-backed gang groups going on since September 22 was to break the will of the people living in the neighborhood, adding; "Nusra gangs desire for the past one year to occupy the entire city of Aleppo and mainly the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood held by YPG. However, Sheikh Maqsoud is an already free settlement where people have entrusted their lives to YPG. This reality therefore doesn't allow the gangs to act in line with their simple interests. This is also the reason why they launch attacks now, which were obviously planned in advance.”
Brûsk Hesekê noted that Nusra gangs imposed an uninterrupted embargo on Efrîn canton and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, kidnapped civilians by blocking roads and subjected the kidnapped to ill treatment on the grounds that they support YPG.
'TURKEY-AFFILIATED GANGS WANT TO OCCUPY ENTIRE ALEPPO'
YPG Commander highlighted that; "Since the beginning of the crisis in Syria, the state of conflict with the gangs had a character that sometimes shone and sometimes died down. The so-called Islamic gangs of Al-Nusra, Ahrar Al-Sham, Nûreddîn Zenkî Brigade and Sultan Murat are openly being supported by the Turkish state. The actions and attacks of these groups are also being prepared by the Turkish state, the aim of which in these attacks is to dissociate the Kurdish, Arab, Turkmen and religious faith groups that live here in fraternity, and to create a provocation by making them confront each other. By doing this, they want to enter the neighborhood, form a basis for occupation and then take control of the entire Aleppo city.”
Pointing to the strategic position of Sheikh Maqsoud, Brûsk Hesekê underlined that YPG/YPJ forces were now getting prepared to defend and protect the neighborhood together with the people against all kinds of attacks.
YPG Commander added that; "Al Nusra and the gang groups affiliated to it will never achieve their purpose even if they attack with the heaviest weapons. We promised our people to protect them, and we will do whatever is necessary for that."
