YPS carried out actions in Amed at the first anniversary of its establishment, leaving 10 police dead and 17 others wounded.
The General Coordination of YPS (Civil Defense Units) released a statement on its website providing information regarding the recent actions conducted by their members in Amed province to mark the first anniversary of their establishment.
According to the statement, an action by YPS members targeted a riot police shuttle on move near the Dicle University in Amed's central Sur district at 16:30 on January 16.
The action, conducted by Martyr Delil Team of Vengeance in memory of fallen YPS militants Bager, Zanyar and Direj, left the police shuttle largely destroyed, as a result of which 8 police died and 8 others were wounded, including 3 critically. Some 20 ambulances accompanied by helicopters retrieved the dead and wounded police from the scene.
Another YPS unit hit two other police groups that rushed to the scene after the action, which left 2 special operations police (PÖH) dead and 8 others wounded.
During the same hours, YPS members stopped and burned two trucks working for the state in Sur district.
At 02:00 on January 14, YPS militants hit 2 PÖH members and one watchman one move between Kaynartepe and Muradiye neighborhoods of the Bağlar district, which left one PÖH member and the watchman wounded.
