Body of YPS member Selim Tekin, nom de guerre Mazlum Pirdoğan, who lost his life in Nusaybin on April 15, and whose body was retrieved from the scene in May, has been identified after 8 months during which it was held in Urfa State Hospital's morgue.
Tekin family received the body and buried it next to his brother, HPG fighter Süleyman Tekin, who had lost his life in Dersim on August 20, 2005. Hundreds of people joined Selim Tekin’s funeral ceremony at Turgut Özal neighborhood cemetery.
Selim's father Fettah Tekin, the Kızıltepe HDP district co-chair who had been detained on November 21 and later arrested, could not participate in his son’s funeral.
Participants of the funeral observed a minute of silence and chanted slogans such as “Martyrs are immortal.” Selim's mother Gurbet Tekin mourned her son’s death and said her sons Selim and Süleyman would now be neighbors.
After the burial ceremony, a condolence tent was put up in Sanayi neighborhood to receive visits after the funeral.
