YRK pays tribute to guerrilla Harûn Partîzan

Guerrilla Harûn Partîzan died in an accident in the Asos Mountains, the Eastern Kurdish guerrilla organization YRK said in a statement.

The press office of the Kurdish guerrilla organization YRK (Yekîneyên Rojhilatê Kurdistanê, Eastern Kurdistan’s Units) announced the death of guerrilla Harûn Partîzan. According to the information, the guerrilla died on 3 July 2024 in an accident in the Asos Mountains on the Iraqi-Iranian border. The YRK said that his real name was Hozan Özdemir and that he was born in 1995 in Yüksekova (Gever), in the province of Hakkari (Colemêrg). He joined the guerrillas in 2019.

The YRK honored Harûn Partîzan as a fallen soldier in the Kurdish freedom struggle. "Hevalê Harun was a brave and intelligent person who took on responsibility on many levels. He was an exemplary commander and was very enthusiastic about developing the guerrilla struggle of democratic modernity," the statement said. In recent years, he has played a leading role in implementing modern tactics, such as building tunnels and in mobile guerrilla teams. He lost his life in an accident while doing this work.

The YRK expressed their condolences to Harûn Partîzan's family and the people of Kurdistan.
