1,664 km2 of land liberated in 8 days of the Raqqa operation

The Wrath of Euphrates Operations Room Command announced that within 8 days of the Raqqa operation, a total area of 664 km2 in the Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor regions has been liberated.

The Wrath of Euphrates Operations Room Command announced the 8-day balance sheet of the ongoing campaign led by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to liberate Raqqa city from ISIS control.

The Command announced that clashes and advances continued continuously from February 16 to February 23 (today), during which many villages were liberated from ISIS gangs.

Wrath of Euphrates Operations Room Command stated that a land of 1,664 km2 has been liberated from ISIS in the Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor provinces during these eight days. 37 villages and 102 hamlets were liberated within this area.

The statement said: “49 ISIS members were killed in eight days. Our forces have seized these gang bodies whilst three gang members were captured alive by our forces. In addition, a DShK-mounted vehicle, four bomb-laden vehicles, two military vehicles and an explosive factory belonging to the gangs have been destroyed. Large quantities of ammunition have also been seized.”

The third phase of the Raqqa campaign continues advancing at full speed.
