An 11-year-old child was seriously wounded after being hit in the head by a tear gas canister fired during the passing of a military convoy in Cizre district of Şırnak.

It has been reported that security forces fired tear gas randomly around while on the way from Cizre to Silopi district of Şırnak Wednesday afternoon.

While it grabbed attention that tear gas canisters were fired on children on their way to Mehmet Akif Ersoy Elementary School in Konak neighborhood, one among them, 11 years old Selman Akbay, sustained a critical injury after a canister hit him in the head. The boy was rushed to Cizre state hospital by the people around.

Akbay is reported to be in a life-threatening situation.
