14 HDP members sent to jail in Kocaeli
14 people were arrested in Kocaeli in November, including HDP Provincial co-chair Leyla Aygün. 8 people were released on bail.
Turkish police had taken 22 HDP members into custody during house raids carried out on 26 November.
HDP Kocaeli Provincial co-chair Leyla Aygün, HDP council member Mehmet Alçınkaya, Gebze District co-chair Ebubekir Çoban, HDP Provincial director lawyer Zakire Dündar, HDP members Damla Bağcı, Melek Yerkan, Gökhan Demirtaş, Şenol Daşdemir, lawyer Yüksel Genç, Osman Kurum, Hasret Erdem, Meryem Uslu, Emine Karaslan and Kutbettin Güneşsu were accused of "being a member of an illegal organization" and sent to court with a request for arrest.
The court accepted the prosecutor's allegations as they were and remanded 14 people in custody.
HDP Provincial accountant Irfan Demir, HDP council member Engin Güleser, HDP members Tekin Gür, Biret Aydemir, Kudret Davutoglu, Mehmet Karaslan, Mekiye Aydın and Necla Erdogan were released on bail after giving their statements to the prosecution.
HDP council member Bülent Uyguner, who was taken into custody on 26 November, was remanded in custody on 28 November on charges of "being a member of an illegal organization".
