15 people including DBP-held Akdeniz district municipality co-mayor Yüksel Mutlu and HDP Mersin co-chair Sadun Doğan were formally arrested late Saturday evening.
Akdeniz district municipality co-mayor Yüksel Mutlu and 21 other people were taken into custody as part of the increasingly ongoing political genocide operations in Mersin province on December 12. The detainees who included HDP provincial chair Sadun Doğan and former chair Selman Günbat were referred to Mersin Courthouse earlier today.
3 out of the 22 detainees were released after giving their statements at the prosecutor's office while 19 others were referred to a vacation court with a demand for their arrest.
4 of the 19 people were released by court on conditions of judicial control, while the rest, who include Akdeniz co-mayor Yüksel Mutlu and HDP provincial co-chair Sadun Doğan were formally arrested for allegedly "being member to / spreading propaganda for and engagement in the activities of a terrorist organisation".
While proceedings have reportedly been finalized for more than 100 people who were detained in Mersin in the most recent operations since December 12, as many as 69 of these have been formally arrested.
