While the legal procedures for 234 persons detained during the May 1 demonstration in Istanbul continue, 2 people have been formally arrested by a court on a charge of making propaganda for an organisation and opposition to the law on holding meetings and marches.

234 people who were detained during May Day demonstrations, in which the police brutally intervened, are making statements in the public prosecutor’s office. The co-chair of the ÖHD Istanbul branch, lawyer Sinan Zincir, said 50 of the detainees are being held in the custodial room of the court building in Caglayan, while 89 persons are being held in the security branch of the Istanbul Police Department, 48 at the Anti-Terror branch and 47 in the Gayrettepe Police Department, adding that the legal procedures still continue for the detainees.
