2011 - 2012 : repression stays the same

The new year in Turkey started as the old ended. Arrests, house raids, hearings.

Today in Ýstanbul 9 people have been taken into custody, in Adana 5 and in Hakkari 2. In Diyarbakýr 40 people have been taken in front of the judge this morning, while 15 have being given their statements in Hakkari. In Muþ 4 people have been remanded in custody.

In Hakkari Sinan Kaya and Abdullah Adýyaman, two BDP (Peace and Democracy party) executives have been taken into custody.

In Istanbul 9 people have been taken to Güvercintepe police station. In Adana a demonstration organised against the massacre by Turkish warplanes in the village of Roboski which left 35 people dead on 28 December, was attacked by police who then arrested 5 people, one of them only 15.

The demonstration against the village of Roboski massacre was attacked two days earlier in Diyarbakýr and as a result 40 people had been taken into custody. They will appear before the judge this morning,

Among the 4 people remanded in custody in Muþ, 3 are under 18.
