Police have taken 25 people into custody in the southern province of Hatay in the wee small hours of the morning.

The police operation and raids in a number of addresses began at 5 a.m. local time, targeting people who joined demonstrations in solidarity with the Gezi Park resistance. Among those detained by police are executives and members of the ESP (Socialist Party of the Oppressed), SODAP, TÖPG, Halkevi and AKADER.

Hatay police have also raided the tents people set up at Sevgi Park in the Akdeniz Nrighborhood. Police teams removed the tents and detained the people in the park area, including Zafer Cömert, brother of Abdullah Cömert who was killed by police in Hatay, and Gürkan Korkmaz, brother of Ali İsmail Korkmaz who was also killed by plainclothes policemen during Gezi protests in Eskişehir.

The number of detainees is expected to increase.
