Kurdish politicians continue presenting themselves to court to state that they too want to be arrested as the "crimes" thousands of people have been detained for are the same they are "committing" every day.
The campaign "I turn myself in" was launched on 16 November to protest the wave of arrests carried out in the context of the so called Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) operation.
Within the scope of the ongoing campaign, around 300 members of the BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) have turned themselves in on 10 January in the main Kurdish city of Diyarbakýr.
In a short speech following the presentation of petitions to Public Prosecution Office, BDP Diyarbakýr District Deputy Chair Ahmet Gezer criticized the AKP government and PM Erdoðan, remarking that the so-called KCK (Kurdish Communities Union) accusations were prepared by special authorized prosecutions to present a ground for the punishment of democratic people and elected representatives.
