37th month of vigil in front of the UN: We will remain in action until we get results

In the 37th month of the vigil action in front of the UN in Geneva, activists called on the KDP administration, whose forces attacked the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrillas, to end its partnership with the invaders.

A vigil by the Democratic Kurdish Community in Switzerland has been taking place in front of the UN headquarters in Geneva since 25 January 2021. Every Wednesday, activists stage a protest in front of the United Nations building to demand the release of Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan. The action is carried out as part of the 'Dem dema azadiye' [Time for Freedom] campaign and directed against the isolation of the Kurdish leader on the Turkish prison island of Imrali, the Turkish occupation attacks on Kurdistan, the massacres committed in Kurdish territories and the silence of the UN.

During today’s vigil, activists saluted the political prisoners who participated in the international campaign "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, a democratic solution to the Kurdish question" with the hunger strike action they started in the prisons of Turkey and North Kurdistan on 27 November.

After a minute of silence in honour of the martyrs of the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle, İbrahim Yüksel made a speech on behalf of the action committee.

Speaking about the extent of the absolute isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, which has been going on for more than 24 months, Yüksel emphasised that they will continue to be in action until the campaign gets results.

Referring to today’s media reports that KDP forces attacked guerrillas by setting up an ambush in the Amadiya region in the Kurdistan Region of. Iraq, Yüksel called on the KDP administration to end its partnership with the invaders.
