At least 38 people were taken into custody by the Turkish police during their participation in Sunday’s Newroz celebration in Istanbul which was held under the motto “We will definitely win and break the isolation”.
The detainees who include 5 minors were reportedly arrested because of the writings on the t-shirts they were wearing, which read “Kurdistan” or “Kobane”, or bore the images of Abdullah Öcalan and Zülküf Gezen who carried out a sacrifice action and ended his life in prison to protest the isolation of Öcalan. Some others were detained because of the red, yellow and green colors on their dresses.
