4 youths detained in Mersin

Mersin police raided the tent set up by DEM-GENÇ (Democratic Youth's Federation) activists in Mevlana Neighborhood of Toroslar district as part of the "Xwedi Derkeve" campaign late last night.

Mersin police raided the tent set up by DEM-GENÇ (Democratic Youth's Federation) activists in Mevlana Neighborhood of Toroslar district as part of the "Xwedi Derkeve" campaign late last night.

A number of policemen entered the tent in the midnight raid, waking the youths up by kicking them and pulling the girls from their hair out of the tent. Also battering the youths in the tent with sticks, police detained four demonstrators who were taken to Mersin police department.

 "Xwedi Derkeve" campaign by HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) and DBP (Party of Democratic Regions, formerly BDP) youth was initiated with the Amara march on 4 April, under the main slogan "Protect your land, water, energy, nature, language, identity, culture and future".
