According to the reports DIHA received from doctors at Gezi Park medical care center, 526 people were treated at the clinic in the park on Tuesday. According to the reports, 56 among those wounded, with gas canister and rubber bullet, are in critical condition. One protestor who was hit on the head with gas canister suffered head trauma. More than a hundred people have been reported detained by police.
Clashes between protestors and police in and around Taksim Square started early Tuesday evening, after police attacked the mass without warning, and lasted till early Wednesday morning. The brutal police attack also targeted the Gezi Park where people from different organizations, and those independent, have early today started to reclean and rearrange the area, and to re-put up tents and stands damaged during the attacks.
Police teams have been deployed in front of Atatürk Statue as well as in the areas of Sıraselviler and İstiklal Avenue. Metro service in the area is yet unavailable because of the intense tear gas police used here yesterday. Public transport vehicles cannot access the area because of the barricades protestors built yesterday in Harbiye and Tarlabaşı.
