6-month tent demonstration launched in Hildesheim

A tent demonstration that will continue for 6 months was launched in Hildesheim, Germany to show solidarity with the hunger strikers and demand an end to the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

The tent demonstration was launched on Monday under the lead of the Hildesheim Martyr Meryem Women’s Commune and is supported by Kurdish women’s organizations from the Salzgitter region.

Activists passed out flyers in the city center to draw attention to the hunger strikes and the isolation.

Posters of resistance members who carried out sacrifice actions during the hunger strikes were held by the activists and banners that read “From hunger strike to sacrifice, the absolute isolation imposed upon Abdullah Ocalan must end” and “From hunger strike to freedom” were put up around the tent.

Hildesheim Martyr Meryem Women’s Commune Co-spokesperson Xeco Donma spoke during the demonstration and said, “The purpose of this demonstration here today is to break the isolation.”

Donma said they will continue until the isolation is broken and called on all Kurds in Europe to protest every day.

Donma called on the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT), European institutions and governments to break their silence and said the silence means support for Erdogan.

Donma said, “The CPT is authorized to end the isolation, and it must play its part now.”
The preparation committee announced that the demonstration will be held every week from Monday to Friday between 17.00 and 19.00 in front of the Jakobi church in the city center.
