8 arrested in Ağrı and Silvan

4 persons who were taken into custody yesterday in simultaneous house raids in Ağrı were referred to court today, with the prosecutor asking for their formal arrest. Tarkan Altıntaş, Sabri Esenboğa, Davut Kadağan and Tayfun Bulut have been arrested by the court on the grounds of “being members of an organisation” after they made their statements.
In the meantime, 5 of 15 persons detained within the scope of the same investigation in Doğubeyazıt district of Ağrı have also been referred to the court, while the other 10 are still being held in the police station as their procedures continue there.
On the other hand, 4 persons who were detained in house raids in Silvan district of Amed on 21 May were also referred to a court yesterday. Following their statements to the prosecutor’s office, İ.D. (17), Mehmet Şirin Yaş, Şirin Değiş and Mustafa Binen were taken to the High Criminal Court, where they were arrested on the grounds of “armed threatening and plundering”, “being a member of an armed organisation” and sent to the Diyarbakır D Type Prison.
It has been reported that family members as well as the detainees were beaten by the police forces during the house raids in Agri and Silvan. There is also reportedly an arrest warrant for 2 more persons in the scope of the same investigation.
