Öcalan’s historic call shared with martyrs' families

KOMAV shared Abdullah Öcalan’s call with the families of martyrs during a meeting held in Zurich.

A meeting organized by the Swiss Martyrs' Families Institution (KOMAV) was held in Zurich. The meeting began with a one-minute silence in memory of the martyrs of the Kurdistan revolution. Then, Abdullah Öcalan’s call "for a Democratic Society" was read.

Journalist and writer Sefkan Kobanê said that Öcalan’s call carries historical significance. He said: "Mr. Öcalan’s ideas have made the Kurdish people known worldwide. He has introduced a new form of struggle, and our responsibility is to bring it to life. We are a socialist movement, and we are determined to uphold true socialism."

Kobanê emphasized Öcalan’s determination to democratize Turkey and stated that "right now, there is an opportunity for Turkey to make progress. If the Turkish state genuinely wants to prevent provocations, it must take peaceful steps."

Kobanê addressed the debates in the Turkish media regarding Rojava and emphasized the need for sensitivity in statements made by the Imrali delegation. He said: "The Turkish state’s approach to Rojava is flawed. Mr. Öcalan has sent letters to Syria."

Kobanê added: "Nothing has been finalized yet. If no steps are taken, the resistance will continue. We have not lost anything; on the contrary, we have gained significant diplomatic leverage."

Kobanê emphasized that, in line with Öcalan’s call, everyone must undergo their own transformation and change, rather than placing the entire responsibility solely on Mr. Öcalan. "We must struggle even more. This is the fundamental duty of everyone who considers themselves a comrade of Mr. Öcalan."
