Öcalan's birthday celebrated in Rojava and South Kurdistan

The birthday of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan was celebrated in dozens of cities of Rojava and Northern Syria as well as in Shengal, Sulaymaniyah and Maxmur.

Til Berak

Syria Democratic Council (MSD) and a large number of members of civili society  organizations, planted saplings to mark Öcalan’s birthday. 

In the celebration SDF commander Adil Cûdî, Til Berak Province Council co-chair Mutleq El-Hesir, Kongreya Star member Hacer El-Hisên and Martyrs’ Families Council member Weed El-Ilêwî addressed the crowd.

Til Hemîs

In Til Hemîs as well, saplings were planted to mark Öcalan’s birthday. A military ceremony was organized by the Internal Security Forces.

The ceremony was joined by Mihemed Xilêwî, on behalf of the Martyrs’ Families Council, Cewza Hasûd on behalf of Kongreya Star and Province co-chair Salih El-Xelef.

Girkê Legê

An event was held at the Aram Tîgran Culture and Art Center in Rimêlan district of Girkê Legê to  celebrate Öcalan's birthday.

Kongreya Star member Pîroz Cûdî said: “We are living free thanks to Öcalan.” 

Qehreman Mihemed, member of the Martyrs’ Families Council, said that April 4 was the birthday of freedom and democracy.

After the speeches, Kurdish and Arab culture art groups performed songs.

Hesekê

Thousands of people participated in the celebration organized by the Syrian Revolutionary Youth Movement in the Xiwêran neighborhood in Hesekê.

Harun Apoyi said: “Thanks to the thoughts of Öcalan, the forces who wanted to eliminate the achievements of the Kurdish people were defeated. We will raise our struggle with the spirit of the resistance in Northern and Eastern Syria and save the Syrian territories from the occupying forces.”

After the speech, Circassian, Kurdish and Arab culture art groups presented their performances.

Shehba

Babnis, Ehdas, Til Qerah, Fafîn, Ehris districts in Shehba and Berxwedan, Serdem and Veger camps celebrated 4 April.

The event was organized in the Berxwedan Camp by the Martyrs' Families Council and students.

A large number of olive and saplings were planted at the Serdem Camp.

After planting the saplings,Kongreya Star member Leyla Mihemed called for raising the struggle to achieve Öcalan's freedom.

Til Rifet Province Council co-chair Henan Mihemed talked about the struggle and life of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

In Ehris hundreds of people joined the event to celebrate 4 April. 

Xana Serî / Derik

Thousands of people from Derik and Koçerat celebrated 4 April with an event organized in front of the Self-Defense Forces building in the village of Xana Serî .

An old recorded message from Öcalan was heard and then people planted 150 saplings in the garden of the Self-Defense Force building.

Kongreya Star Qamishlo canton executive Eyhan Murad spoke at the event.

Tirbespiyê

In the district of Tirbespiyê in the Canton of Qamishlo, the 4 April celebrations were held in the Roj hall.

Nofa Giûd, a member of the Martyrs’ Families Council said that the people of North and East Syria were fighting following Öcalan's ideas.

Kobanê

In the Canton of Kobanê, the 4 April was celebrated in the village of Elpelûrê, where Öcalan stayed while in  Rojava.

Speaking at the celebration, Arin Kobanê, deputy co-chair of the Euphrates Regional Assembly, said that Öcalan's birthday is the birthday of the peoples who struggle for freedom.

Arin Kobanê, who drew attention to the ongoing resistance against isolation led by Leyla Güven, greeted the Imralı resistance and the hunger strike resistance.

Other demonstrations were held in Qamishlo, Raqqa, Serêkaniyê, Dirbêsiyê, Amude, Aleppo, Girê Spî,Tabqa, Keramê.

Shengal

The people in Shengal also celebrated Öcalan’s birthday with a ceremony in which Meyan Nasır, members of the Martyrs’ Families Council thanked “Leader Apo, because if we are living freely in Shengal is tanks to him.”

Sulaymaniyah

A member of the Freedom for Öcalan Committee Başurê said that “the birthday of Leader Apo is not just his birthday, but the whole Kurdish people’s birthday.”

Maxmur

Öcalan’s birthday was celebrated at the Martyr Rustem Cudi (Maxmur) camp.

Speaking on behalf of Maxmur Camp Education Organization, Pakistan Bilen thanked the participants and said: “We celebrate the 4, which is the day when humanity begins.”
