Ölçen family not given body of their relative for 96 days

The body of Erhan Ölçen, who fell martyr in a clash in Lice, has not been given to his family for 96 days.

The body of Erhan Ölçen, who fell martyr in a clash in Lice on 3 November in the rural areas of Lice, Amed, has been held in the morgue of Diyarbakır Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital for 96 days.

Upon receiving the news of the death of his sob, father Ölçen applied to Baglar District Gendarmerie Station to get the body. The man went to the police station and identified his son from the photos shown to him. However, when the body was not given to him, father Ölçen gave a blood sample to get a DNA test on 20 January.

Father Ölçen said that his son was arrested during his university years and stayed in prison for 3 years. Therefore he had his fingerprints taken. 

Ölçen's father added that he applied to get his son's body to the prosecutor's office only to be told that he was "not an interlocutor".

The family lawyer also applied and the MEBYA-DER association also put pressure but for 96 days the family was not able to get the remains of their son.

Ölçen's father also stressed that they were threatened by police and officers.
