Action by Kurdish youth against isolation in NRW Parliament

The protest aims to protest against the isolation imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and call attention to the hunger strike campaign demanding an end to the isolation executed by the Turkish state.

A group of Kurdish youth staged a protest in the North Rhine Westphalia (NRW) State Parliament in Dusseldorf city of Germany on Tuesday.

The protest aims to protest against the isolation imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and call attention to the hunger strike campaign demanding an end to the isolation executed by the Turkish state.

Carrying photos of Abdullah Öcalan, the Kurdish protesters unfurled a banner highlighting the critical stage reached by DTK Co-chair and HDP MP Leyla Güven who is on her 125th day of fast.

While German police took intense security measures around the building, the protesters explained their demands as follows;

- Discussion of the indefinite hunger strike actions led by Leyla Güven in the NRW State Parliament in order to ensure an end to the isolation of Öcalan.

- Release of an official statement by NRW Parliament regarding the indefinite and non-alternating hunger strikes.

- Conveyance of the demands of hunger strike activists to the German government.
