Activists at the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil: Kurds must be united to exist

Kurds participating in the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in Strasbourg drew attention to the importance of national unity and emphasized that the Kurds have to be united in order to exist.

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil held in Strasbourg to demand freedom of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan continues.

Kurds who participated in the action from different European countries drew attention to the dangers of a possible fratricide war. The activists said that they will all oppose a fratricide war, adding that both the guerrillas and the peshmergas are children of Kurdistan.

Sebahat Ergin: Our people living in 4 parts of Kurdistan should be united. The people of the south should not play in the hands of the enemy. We must all oppose the inter-Kurdish war together.

Both the guerrillas and the peshmergas fighting today are the children of this people. We will not renounce to our rights and hand them over to those who want to see Kurds fighting against Kurds. The Barzanis must stop serving the enemy. They should protect the people and society of Kurdistan and reject a fratricide war. We will fight harder to break the isolation on our Leader.

Latif Karatax: The Kurdish people have no other right left than unity and resistance. Like all people in the world, Kurds have the right to live on their own land.

We have been living in the Mesopotamian lands for thousands of years. Our people in Kurdistan, in Europe and in other countries must protect their institutions for the unity of Kurdistan. There won’t be victory without unity.

Mele Mahyettin: The people of Kurdistan, their political parties and institutions will become stronger if they act together.

Nations become stronger when they unite. Only when a nation works together will the oppressors and invaders be defeated. My call to the people of Kurdistan, be united and don’t fight against each other.

Imam Akgün: The Kurds have to unite in order to exist. It's time for unity.

We can leave war as a legacy to our children.
