Kurds and their friends gathered at Hermannplatz to join the demonstration organised by NavBerlin (Free Kurdistan Assembly) to protest the invasion attempts against the Medya Defense Areas launched on 24 April.
Statements in German were read in the action that started with a minute silence. Speaking at the protest, Mazlum Karagöz said: “The invasion attempts of the AKP-MHP fascist bloc are directed not only to Medya Defense Areas but also to Rojava, North Kurdistan and Kurds. This attack attempt should not be considered ordinary, the state of the Republic of Turkey put into action the genocide plan against the Kurdish people. It is not coincidence that the invasion attempts began on 24 April, the day in which the Armenian Genocide is remembered.”
In his speech, Karagöz continued: "Erdogan and the MHP fascist alliance have the Kurdish genocide as their aim but, we, as Kurds, in Kurdistan, in Turkey, wherever we are in the world, we must counter this dirty plans."
Speaking on behalf of the NavBerlin council, Erhan Fırat described the Turkish State's attempts to occupy the Avashin and Zap regions as a plan to invade the entire Kurdistan and called for resistance.
