Some 5,500 signatures were collected in Cologne and sent to the United Nations as part of the Europe-wide signature campaign demanding freedom for Öcalan.
The signature campaign demanding freedom for Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has spent the last 22 years in Imrali prison island, continues throughout Europe.
On Tuesday, 5,500 signatures collected in Cologne were sent to the United Nations. The Democratic Society Center in Cologne had set itself the goal of 5,000 signatures for the past month. Hüseyin Temel from the Democratic Society Center said after reaching their goal they are now trying to get to 6,000 signatures.
Temel also announced that that would launch a letter campaign to Joe Biden under the slogan “Kurdish politicians are not terrorists”. The campaign seeks the withdrawal of the US $12 million bounty for the capture of KCK leaders Cemil Bayık, Murat Karayılan and Duran Kalkan.
