Activists in Europe demand freedom for Öcalan

The protest organized by the Kurdish youth movements demanding freedom for Abdullah Öcalan and the defense of the region of Shengal continue across Europe.

In many European cities the protests for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan and against the attacks by the KDP and the Iraqi central government on the self-government of the Yazidi region of Shengal continued on Wednesday.

The protests were organised by the Kurdish Revolutionary Youth Movement (TCŞ) and the Movement of Fighting Young Women (TEKO-JIN) and are part of the campaign launched by the KCK on 12 September, “End Isolation, Fascism, Occupation - Time for Freedom”.

Berlin: Protest in front of the train station

 A small protest rally took place at the main train station in Berlin. Activists read a statement on current developments in region of Shengal and criticized the collaboration between the South Kurdish ruling party KDP and the Turkish state. Under the slogan "Long live the Shengal Resistance", they called for the defense of the Yazidi region in northern Iraq.

Projections in Bielefeld and Mannheim

In Bielefeld, projections of speeches by Abdullah Öcalan were shown over a large area on the market square, the art gallery and the Sparrenburg above the city center. Similar actions also took place in Mannheim.

Demonstration in Marignane

 A demonstration took place in the French city of Marignane. Young people gathered with banners with the words “Freedom for Öcalan” and kept shouting “Long live the resistance of Shengal”.

Rally and demonstration in Bordeaux

A rally and demonstration of the TCŞ took place in Bordeaux. Activists protested the isolation of Öcalan.

Actions in Paris and Montpellier

In the Parisian banlieue Villier le Bel, young activists took to the streets with PKK flags and Öcalan pictures. In Montpellier, the Delal Amed women's commune organized an action in which banners with the slogan “It is time for Öcalan's freedom” were hung up in various places in the city.
