A demonstration was organised in the Swedish city of Malmo to protest Turkey’s attacks in South Kurdistan and the threats issued by president Erdogan of a possible new invasion of Northern and Eastern Syria.

The demonstration was promoted by Rojavakommittérna, Vänsterpartiet, Allt Åt Alla, Ung Vänster, SUF and Mangla.

Speaking at the demonstration, Myran (Allt Åt Alla) said: “Who is the real terrorist? Turkey is supporting jihadi militants and now threatens Rojava with invasion again. Now Turkey wants Sweden to start weapons exports in exchange for NATO membership. We say no.”

Anfal (Vänsterpartiet) said: “This is what we have been warning about for a long time, but all the other parties said we were exaggerating. Now they want to appease Erdogan, but we will never accept it. We will stand with the Kurds.”

Arthur (SUF) said: “Why should Turkey decide about Swedish politics? To go into an alliance with Turkey only means an increased risk of war.”

Luigi (UV) said: “We won’t bow to Erdogan’s demands. “We will struggle as we have done before. The PKK should be delisted. We stand with the PKK!”

Gustav (RK) said: “What we do here affects the despot in Ankara. If our freedom of speech, our ideas and opinions is the price Turkey demands for Sweden to enter NATO, it can keep dreaming, we will never surrender.”
