Activists in Munich commemorate the victims of Sivas massacre

Activists in Munich commemorated the victims of Sivas massacre.

The victims of the Sivas massacre were commemorated in Munich with a ceremony which saw the participation of Democratic Alevi Federation (FEDA) co-chair Demir Çelik and artist Ozan Emekçi.

Demir Çelik said: “The Dersim, Koçgiri, Maraş, Çorum and Gazi massacres are the results of the same mentality. These massacres cannot be separated from the state's traditional treatment of the Kurdish people and the Alevi society, and from the policies of denial and assimilation.”

Çelik added: “Today, we need to enlarge the struggle with a common democracy and freedom program. We need to unite forces, energies and will of the different peoples, identities, beliefs and cultures of Turkey. We need to raise the struggle for democracy, equality and justice.”
