Activists in Paris, Kiel, Lavrio and Basel commemorate Martyr Zilan (Zeynep Kınacı), on the 25th anniversary of her martyrdom.

PARIS

Martyr Zilan and the martyrs of June were commemorated in Paris with an action promoted by the French Kurdish Women's Movement. The commemoration was held at the Paris Democratic Kurdish Community Center and was attended by relatives of many martyrs.

Nupel Munzur made a speech on behalf of TJK-E commemorating martyrs Zîlan, Ulaş Dersim, Sema Yüce and all the martyrs of June and said: "The response to the destruction and denial policy that Comrade Zîlan gave was the revenge of those died in the Dersim massacre and the women who had to throw themselves off the cliffs to protect themselves. The sacrifice of Comrade Zîlan is our reality of struggle and life."

Dayîka Têlî and Xanê Akdoğan made a speech on behalf of the families of the martyrs.

The commemoration ended with a video on martyr Zîlan's life and a concert by TEV-ÇAND.

VILLENEUVE SAINT GEORGES

Martyrs Zilan and Sema Yüce were also commemorated in the Paris suburb of Villeneuve Saint Georges with a march organized by TCŞ and TekoJIN activists.

A commemoration was held at the Villeneuve-Saint-Georges community center after the march.

VILLIERS LE BEL

Martyr Zilan and Sema Yüce were commemorated in Villiers Le Bel. Organized by TCŞ, TekoJIN and TJK-E, the memorial was held at the Villiers Le Bel community center.

KIEL

Martyr Zilan was commemorated with an action held in Kiel. In the speeches made at the commemoration, which started with a minute’s silence, the great importance of Martyr Zilan for the Kurdish people and especially Kurdish women was underlined.

BASEL

Kurds living in Basel attended the commemoration for Martyr Zilan organised at the Democratic Kurdish Community Center (CDK) by the Ronahî Women's Council and the Martyr Family Institution (KOMAW).

Activists of Ronahî Women's Council read the open letter that Zilan had written to Abdullah Ocalan before the sacrifice action she carried out on 30 June 1996.

LAVRIO

The commemoration in Lavrio was organized by Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger (TCŞ), Tevgera Jinên Kurdistan-Ewropa (TJK-E).

The memorial was attended by many Kurds and activists from the Greek People's Assembly said that the line of resistance drawn by Martyr Zilan continued to be carried out by Kurdish women.

The commemoration ended with the halay performance by the Kulîlkên Qampa Lavrio children's folklore team.
