Activists in Rome call for freedom for Abdullah Öcalan

At the Time of Hope event in Rome, the importance of taking action for Abdullah Öcalan's physical freedom was underlined.

As part of the anniversary of the international conspiracy that led to the abduction of Abdullah Ocalan, an event was organized in Rome, where politicians, artists, academics and lawyers discussed Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's book "Sociology of Freedom".

The Time of Hope event was held at the Ararat Cultural Center in Rome. Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan International Delegation member Giovanni Russo Spena, Rome 8th District Mayor Amedeo Ciaccheri, Italian cartoonist and comic book writer Zerocalcare, former Greens chair and Member of Parliament Paolo Cento, Kurdish Punto Rosso Publishing House Editor Roberto Mapelli, lawyer Michela Arricale, Member of the Research Center for Democracy and Member of the International Delegation Against Isolation, Simonetta Crisci, Member of the Time of Freedom Committee, Arturo, the Lawyer of the Kurdish People's Leader in Italy. Salerni, Academic Sociologist Laura Corradi, Research Writer Rojbîn Bêrîtan and Jineology Committee Member Zeryan made speeches.


The event had two sessions. One about the process of the Kurdish People's Leader's arrival in Rome and the absolute isolation in Imrali, and the other about the thoughts and books of Abdullah Öcalan.

Giovanni Russo Spena said that isolation in Imrali is a form of permanent torture,   imposed not only on the Kurdish people, but the entire Kurdish people. He stressed the importance of international action to ensure the freedom of the Kurdish people's leader.
