'Afrin fear' in the German army

The German Military Intelligence (MAD) warned the German army (Bundeswehr) that it is in the cross hairs of radical left-wing groups due to the Turkish offensive on Afrin.

German Federal Government remains silent on the illegal war of aggression of Turkey on Afrin. This attack is implemented with German Leopard II tanks. Recently, the Merkel government approved an arms export to Turkey a week after the onset of the war of aggression, on January 27th. While all this is seen as supporting Germany for the aggressive war in Afrin, a significant warning came from the German Military Intelligence (MAD to the units of the German army (Bundeswehr).

According to the weekly magazine Der Spiegel MAD said in a newsletter that there could be attacks on the Bundeswehr because of Afrin. According to the notice, military vehicles should only be parked in the headquarters. In car care services, the vehicles have to be parked "always in a fenced area and never in the front row".

On 13 March, two trucks of the Bundeswehr were set on fire in Soltau in protest at the invasion of Afrin. The anti-militarist group "Şehit (Martyr) Efrîn Polat" claimed responsibility for the action.

A claimant letter published on the internet platform Indymedia states: "The fascist Turkish army also uses hundreds of vehicles from former Bundeswehr stocks in its criminal extermination war against the resistant population of Afrin. Many of the German Leopard tanks, but also most of the transport trucks produced by Mercedes among others, were in use by the German troops for years before they were handed over to Turkey. Since the 90s, it is common practice to sell already used war equipment at a cheap price to Turkey or to hand it over as a gift. The old antimilitarist guideline, "What burns here, can no longer do any harm elsewhere" applies in particular to the arms deliveries to Turkey.”
