AKP and its lies on providing Kurdish language and education

After banning Kurdish names and education in Kurdish, now the AKP candidates in Van try to attract voters by saying they promote bilingual education.

After having banned names in Kurdish and prohibiting education in Kurdish the AKP and its trustees are now trying to get votes by using Kurdish for their election campaign in Perperok, Van.

AKP and its trustee, who banned the use of Kurdish in Perperok, prohibiting the Kurdish language education opened by the DBP-run Van Metropolitan Municipality, are now trying to attract votes by saying that the AKP is offering bilingual education in Kurdish and Turkish within the municipality.

The reality is that the State-appointed trustees who usurped the legitimately elected DBP mayor had banned the use of Kurdish name for Perperok Creche promoted by te Metropolitan Municipality.

Hundreds of children were raised in Perperok Kurdish Creche, which was opened in 2015 by the DBP Van Metropolitan Municipality. It was the first time that the people and children of Perperok could actually receive education in their mother tongue.

The Turkish government feared the Kurdish creche

The Kurdish people's interest in the Kurdish nursery was increasingly spreading. Thus Perperok creche was taken as an example and more nurseries were opened in the Serhat region. Kurdish education in the region has gained importance and people support, so much so that the Turkish state began felt threatened by it.

This fear was translated into a direct action by the State-appointed trustee who banned the creche and education in Kurdish as one of his first decision.

In Perperok the AKP closed the Kurdish nursery and replaced it with a Turkish one. In addition the creche which was free became private and parents had to pay to send their children there.

People reacted to closure of creche

AKP candidate for mayor at Van Metropolitan Municipality, Necdet Takva, tried to mislead voters by saying that the AKP would provide bilingual education, whereas Kurdish had been banned from day one by the trustee.

People did not swallowed the lie of the AKP candidate and reacted to it by denouncing that the Kurdish creche had been banned for two years and that in fact children were prevented from learning in their mother tongue.
