The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Þemdinli Branch Chair Tahir Saklý as long as other 150 members resigned from the AKP to join the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) in Hakkari.
Labor, Democracy and Freedom Bloc’s Hakkari candidate, Esat Canan as well as BDP members, welcomed the new members with a small ceremony in the election office.
Addressing the crowd, Canan, called on people who want peace to join the BDP.
New member of BDP and former branch chair of AKP, Tahir Saklý, also took the floor and said: “No one can make politic whithout respecting the people’s will. People are here, so am I. I wish this election is going to help peace and this bloodshed will stop. If I would have given even just a small contribution to extinguish this fire, I will be the happiest person in the world.”
