Third hearing in the case opened against 51 defendants, 4 of whom are imprisoned and include Co-mayor of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, Fırat Anlı who had been removed from office and jailed on 30 October 2016, has been held at Diyarbakır 8th Heavy Penal Court.
Of the 4 defendants who stand trial in relation with the building of Şêx Saîd Cemetery in Amed's central Dicle district, 3 were present in the hearing which Anlı attended via video conferencing system SEGBİS from Elazığ T Type Closed Prison where he is held.
Following the statements of defense by lawyers of the defendants who are prosecuted without remand, the court board ruled for the release 2 of the jailed defendants, Fırat Anlı and Abdullah Bal, on condition of “judicial control” in consideration of the time they have spent in jail.
Ruling a continuation of imprisonment for the other jailed defendants, Selahattin Dilek and Mehmet Saltabaş, the court adjourned the next hearing to 27 September.
Co-mayor of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, Fırat Anlı had been jailed on 30 October 2016 in the scope of an investigation by Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
