Antifascist youth demonstration in Stuttgart

In many European cities, Kurds have taken to the streets against the Turkish state's attacks on Kurdistan. In Stuttgart an antifascist youth demonstration took place.

Protests against the Turkish occupation attacks on Kurdistan, the oppression of the Kurdish population in Turkey and the deadly air raid on May 27 in which PKK Central Council member Kasim Engin was killed took place in many cities in Europe on Saturday. In Stuttgart, the Kurdish youth movements TCŞ and JCA held an expressive demonstration, which was supported by other organisations.

The demonstration, which began with a minute's silence, started at Lautenschlager Strasse and continued to the market place. At the head of the demonstration procession banners with the inscription "Death to fascism" and "Şehîd namirin" (Martyrs are immortal) with a picture of Kasim Engin were carried. A banner of the Young Women's Movement (JCA) carried the simple inscription "Intikam" (Revenge). Other banners read "Death to Turkish state terrorism" and showed pictures of victims of racist murders. Speakers called for a worldwide front of resistance against fascism.

Further protests against Turkish fascism took place in Bremen, Vienna, Toulouse, Marseille, Limassol (Cyprus), Strasbourg and The Hague.
