In the Corona crisis it becomes clear that health care workers are "of systemic importance" - in other words, indispensable for the continued existence of our society. In the past, they hardly received any recognition for this, but now there is occasional applause in the evening, which is not enough.
The initiative ‘Friends of the Kurdish Freedom Movement’ in Braunschweig, Germany has been carrying out actions in front of Braunschweig hospitals for some time now to express its solidarity with the employees of the institution because applause does not change anything.
Two weeks ago, as part of the series of actions in the scope of similar campaigns and statements both nationally and internationally, banners were placed on the fence of the hospital in Holwedestrasse, making the workers' perspectives visible and strengthening their demands on politicians.
Today, May 1, a similar action took place at the hospital at Celler Street. The activists hung banners which read "No profits with health!" and "For a health system in which the interests of employees and patients are the focus of attention".
The group calls for a common struggle for a health care system in which the focus is on treatment, care and healing at reasonable working conditions. "This can only happen if the entire health care system is freed from the profit motive and socialized,” says the activists from the group.
