Arab League condemns Turkish operation in South Kurdistan

The Arab League has condemned the military operation launched by Turkey in the regions of Northern Iraq allegedly targeting PKK fighters.

Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit condemned the Turkish military interference saying that it "represents an attack on the Iraqi sovereignty, and without coordination with the government in Baghdad". He added that Ankara "underestimates the international law and its relations with its Arab neighbors."

Arab League’s council had adopted a resolution last March condemning the ongoing Turkish interference in Northern Iraq under the title “Taking a unified Arab Stance towards the Turkish forces’ violation of Iraqi sovereignty” and the Arab countries unanimously approved the resolution, except one country which had reservations about it.
