Arrests of Kurds seem unstoppable as more people in Diyarbakýr, Hakkari, Þýrnak and Van have been taken into custody on Saturday.
In Diyarbakýr, two people, including a student of Dicle University, were taken into custody and transferred to the Erzincan Enes Bedes Police Station.
In Hakkari, Ramazan Altýnoluk, 27, was detained in the Esendere town of the city and transferred to the Yüksekova Police Department.
In Þýrnak, 11 minors were taken into custody following house raids carried out after a meeting to support imprisoned Kurdish politicians.
In Van, Çelebibað Mayor Veysel Keser was sentenced to one year in prison because of his speech during a open public meeting in 2009 in the Erciþ District of the city.
The Van 4th High Criminal Court sentenced him for “Making propaganda for an illegal organization” based on the speech.
The Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Istanbul Branch organized a series of actions against the latest arrests despite its many executives and members were remanded in custody.
Between 18 and 28 December, the BDP Istanbul Branch will organize meetings, rallies, exhibition and demonstration to support imprisoned Kurdish and Turkish politicians and activist due to the Union of Kurdistan Communities (KCK) case.
On the other hand, the Human Rights Association (ÝHD) Hakkari Branch called on people to support actions staged against the arrests.
In Istanbul, 13 out of 23 people taken into custody, were remanded in custody for “Being members of the illegal organization, Revolutionary People’ Liberation Party- Front (DHKP-C)
