An attack was carried out on the Inegöl district building of the People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) on Monday night.

A party member who was outside the district building during the attack was chased by the attacker with an axe.

Making a statement on his social media accounts, DEM Party Bursa Municipality co-mayor candidate Ihsan Seylan wrote: "We strongly condemn the attack on our Bursa-Inegöl district building. This attack on our district building, just as we are running for elections with our own candidates all over Turkey, is an indication of the fear towards the DEM Party."

Seylan added: "These attacks can never deter us from our determined struggle. The fact that the attack was carried out on the building a couple of days after we introduced the candidates shows the dark plans of the fascist bloc. We know very well the source of these attacks. Let's not give credit to those who want to undermine election efforts with provocations. We will continue our work with determination."
