Mehmet Bozgeyik, general secretary of the Teachers’ Union (Egitim Sen) has little doubts. "Special forces - he says - have been organizing the attacks against Kurdish students."
Reactions against chauvinist attacks against Kurds are increasing, even more so after the death, yesterday of young student Serzan Kurt. The General Secretary of Egitim Sen, Mehmet Bozgeyik alleged that special forces are behind the attacks against Kurdish students. “These attacks - he says - might extend to other sections of the society if no measures to stop then and prevent them are taken”.
“Those attacks are doomed to increase because of the deadlock in the process to address the Kurdish problem. Increasing army operations and clashes are witnessed. Tokat, Maras, Konya and Eskisehir were followed by Mugla. It seems no coincidence - adds Bozgeyik - that these attacks often happen when there are army operations under way." According to the general secretari of Egitim-Sen, "physical and psychological attacks against Kurds happen at a time in which we are witnessing a deadlock in the search for a solution to the Kurdish question". Like Kurds, also other democratic and opposition movements have recently been attacked, underlines Bozgeyik. "I believe - he concludes - that ‘someone’ is using others in order to make these ultranationalist attacks happen. Those attacks are not only systematic but also political.”
Referring attacks against Kurds, Bozgeyik added that all parts of society needs to be against lynches otherwise lynch culture will take over communal solidarity, communal conscious to live together and toleration for each other’s life.
On the other, it is stated that; student Þerzan Kurt, who lost his life because of the attack, is son of Omer Kurt, former head of Egitim Sen Batman Branch.
